Creative Concept
This led screen comes from a project Shloka and I created for the class Cabinets of Wonder. The piece is a science museum experience aimed at communicating the concept of Baryon Asymmetry to children. Put briefly, Baryon Asymmetry is the name given to the phenomenon of the existence of matter in the universe, given that antimatter should have canceled it all out. We thought about many different ways to communicate this through physical systems, but ultimately particle physics is very difficult on our level of reality. So, we turned to a screen. Specifically we chose to use a led matrix because each each led could represent an individual particle and we could show the two types of particles canceling each out.
Going further, we decided to implement a storybook narrative in order to further our communication. The led screen would then show a different particle animation in complement to each page, along with a unique sound scape.
